Classes Offered

101 Puppy Kindergarten

This class is designed for puppies aged 8-20 weeks. The purpose is to provide safe socialization, guidance on the wonderful but trying developmental stages that all puppies go through and cover the groundwork for basic obedience skills all puppies (and owners) will need. Specifically, we will cover sit, down, come, walking nicely on lead, and general manners, with particular emphasis on helping you build and maintain a positive and rewarding relationship with your dog.

201 Beginner Basics

This class is designed for all dogs over 20 weeks. The purpose is to cover all the basics plus provide help on individual behavioral issues. Specifically, we will cover sit down, come, walking nicely on lead, and general manners, with particular emphasis on helping you build and maintain a positive and rewarding relationship with your dog.

301 Beyond Basics

This class is designed for all dogs over 20 weeks who have completed either puppy kindergarten, beginner basics, or who have been evaluated by an instructor and found to understand "the basics." We will be building on foundation skills and improving consistency. Specifically, we will work more on walking by your side (heeling), increasing time and distance on "stay," adding more distractions while working and focusing on the skills you and your dog want to improve and working toward off leash control. This class can vary considerably depending on the student's needs and skill level.

401 Canine Good Citizen Certificate (CGC)

The CGC is a certification program offered by the American Kennel Club (AKC). The CGC consists of an examination that tests your dog's basic obedience and manners. It is a great way to assess and get credit for your training. CBDTC offers CGC preparation classes and CGC testing annually, and occasionally more often.

500 Higher Level Education and Enrichment Activities

Intermittently CBDTC offers classes on specific activities like Rally, Agility, Games and Tricks, as well as tools such as clickers. These classes are fun, fast paced, and a great way to schedule "fun time" with your dog and learn new skills. Occasionally CBDTC also offers a competition obedience class for dogs and handlers interested in the competition aspect of the sport. These classes are tailored to the students and are a great opportunity to work on specific skills.

501 Breed Handling / Open Training

For those with dogs of any age, who are interested in learning about how to show a dog in the conformation ring.  Dogs of all types of breeding are welcome.  (Your dog needn't be a purebred.)

Introduction to Rally Obedience

This fun class will help to polish and build on  the skills you and your dog have learned in prior classes.  Learn the “Ins and Outs” of Rally Obedience and try your hand at negotiating Rally Courses

Open Training

We also perform "open training" time at the Bath Recreation Department on Monday nights to provide handlers with a place to work on the skills learned during class. This is a "drop in" open training time, no instruction is offered. The cost is $5 for non-club members, $3 for members.

Registration and Orientation

The first class is usually a registration/orientation class. Unless you and the dog you are going to bring have taken a class from us recently, you must bring current vaccination records for your dog. Your dog must be current on shots, including: Rabies, Distemper, Parvovirus, Hepatitis, and Parainfluenza. We strongly recommend your dog be vaccinated against kennel cough (Bordatella). We require vaccination records to protect your dog and others in the class. We will take time during the first class to discuss our training philosophy, answer your questions, talk about any socialization issues and give you several exercises to work on at home to help make your first class successful. To facilitate this, we ask that your dog wait at home (for puppy and beginners classes only!).

Classes are held in Bath at the Bath Rec. Department. Please contact 615-WOOF (9663) or email CBDTC at Info@cascobaydogtraining.com for more information regarding Open Training.

When inquiring about our classes through our e-mail, please include your name, mailing address, and phone number.
